About
Hi! My name is Dani, short for Danielle. Let me tell you a bit about me.
I graduated from Macalester College in 2020 with a BA in Geography and Public Health. I chose to major in Geography because of my fascination with maps and the process of designing them. Just like websites, maps must be accessible to the average user. So many maps (and sites) are overly complicated and hard to navigate, when they should be just the opposite. Maps serve a critical purpose, and the consequences can be disastrous when they confuse users.
When I discovered the field of UX Design, I was instantly hooked. It reminded me so much of mapmaking in the way that the designer must consider user needs at every stage of the design process. I finished a six-month Google course in UX Design in April, 2023. Since then, I’ve been refining my skills, learning new tools, and designing websites and apps. I use my background in cartography to create products that are easy to navigate and intuitive. My designs consistently place the user front and center, producing aesthetically pleasing but not overworked products.
My perspective is informed by my experience helping my parents and grandparents with technology. I recognize the difficulty that older generations sometimes have trying to complete seemingly simple tasks on their phones and computers. I’m reminded of my privilege being from a generation that grew up surrounded by smart phones, computers, and other technology. I want to utilize that privilege to create designs that are accessible to everyone. My goal is to design products intuitive enough for even my 93-year-old grandpa to navigate.
